According to Facebook, the leading researcher INION, Professor of the Russian State Humanitarian University Oksana Kiyanskaya, the order came from the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Office of Service Buildings” under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
“Where to go - they don’t say, they are thrown out into the street. The Internet is chopped off in the building and the floors are removed, ”Kyanskaya writes. “On Tuesday, August 1 at 12:00 in INION, the general meeting of the team will be held.”
INION RAS, the largest center of scientific information in Russia and the multidisciplinary research institute in the field of social and humanities, since the mid-1970s has been located in a specially built building on Nakhimovsky Prospekt in Moscow.
In the winter of 2015, a strong fire occurred in the building - the fire covered 2000 sq.m, about 1000 square meters of roof collapsed. As a result, more than 5 million copies of scientific publications stored in the Institute Fund were lost .
Almost 11 thousand people signed an appeal to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on the Internet with a request to decide on the restoration of the INION building and to preserve the institute and the library in it.
In the summer of 2016, the INION team expressed anxiety for the reconstruction project of the victim in the fire of the building, since the project of restoration of the funds at their disposal did not comply with the volume of library funds. In September, the Moscow Urban Planning and Land Commission decided to restore and reconstruct the INION building with an increase in an area of 5.5 thousand square meters.
In December, acting Director Ilyon Ilya Zaitsev announced the possible start of construction work of the new library building in the III quarter of 2017.
