Serebrennikov shoots a film about Tsoi

Director Kirill Serebrennikov began in St. Petersburg to shoot a film dedicated to the early stage of the history of the Victor Tsoi group "Kino".

About this today, July 27, Serebrennikov wrote on Facebook. According to the director, this will be a romantic and piercing “summer musical story about the love of very young people who love and play rock and roll,” TASS reports.

The film will be called "Summer" and will be released in 2018. The script was written by Lilia and Mikhail Idov. The action of the “summer” takes place in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when 18-year-old Viktor Tsoi recorded his first album, the song “Once you were a beetle”, “Aluminum cucumbers”, “Eighth-grader”.

According to Interfax with reference to the press service of the project, the plot of the film will be built on the little-known facts of the biography of the musician. The film will use the songs of Tsoi, as well as the music of Western rock musicians, which influenced the formation of Russian rock.

“The creators will have to recreate the atmosphere of the St. Petersburg rock club, the“ apartment ”and the entire era of the birth of Russian rock,” the press service explained.
