Dunkirk

I watched the film "Dunkirk" about the Second World War with surprise. Heroes are almost nameless. There is almost no plot. Dialogues, comic, tragic touching, which Hollywood loves so much - not at all. Gradually, I understood the plan - this film is not about people, not about the hero or glorious company, ordinary Ryan or tankers (how many were there?) And the dog.

This is a film about Britain. On the June beaches of Lamansha, hundreds of soldiers are waiting for ships, sometimes bombs fall on top of them, however, bombs are in the sand and there are not many damage from them.

Soldiers, British and French, soldiers of the broken armies of 1940, the mood of common confusion, depression, reminds of this of the stories about the great Soviet retreat of 1941. Churchill can do one thing - to evacuate at least a few tens of thousands. There will be no weapons for them, but the evacuated will become the backbone of the new British army. And then the battle with Nazism will be able to last.

The pilots are fighting upstairs, the fleet directs all the power to evacuate but large warships are an ideal target for a Nazi bomber. And then Britain, hundreds and thousands of private small vessels, each can translate dozens of soldiers - come up to the job - they are suitable without saying a word to the shore. "What is this?" “This is the homeland” - the longest conversation of the film sounds when the soldiers at first see an incomprehensible movement at sea.

So the homeland saves not dozens of the environment, as the military planned, but hundreds of thousands of people. Small ships are not so vulnerable to air bombs. This is not a victory, but it is an opportunity to continue the struggle.

At the end of the film, we see a newspaper with Churchill's famous speech: “We will fight on the hills ...” In his memoirs, he admits: “We would beat the German landing by helmets, because we had no other weapons then”

In a strange way, this monotonous film touches the soul, and those who want to know about one of the most important episodes of the fight against Nazism - it should be very worth watching (which can not be said about the famous film "Save Private Ryan").
