The experiment with inspections in the metro of St. Petersburg is recognized as unsuccessful

The experiment with the inspection of all passengers conducted at several metro stations in St. Petersburg is recognized as unsuccessful. This was announced by the press service of the St. Petersburg metro .

The metro leadership sent a letter to the Minister of Transport of Russia Maxim Sokolov and Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko with a request to revise the regulatory framework regarding security in underground transport.

In St. Petersburg, on July 23, reinforced security measures were introduced at the four metro stations, providing for a thorough inspection of all passengers, where the metal detectors installed at the entrance to the station were reacted. At the stations participating in the experiment, huge lines arose. Eyewitnesses reported that in order to get to the station, they had to spend up to half an hour.

In early April, a terrorist attack occurred in the St. Petersburg metro. Then, as a result of the explosion of a homemade bomb, 15 people died, almost 90 people were injured.
