Everything in the world is made of plastic

From 1950 to 2015, 6.3 billion tons of plastic waste appeared on the planet, half of which occurred in the last ten years. If this trend is not reversed, the amount of plastic waste risks growing to 26 billion tons in the next 30 years. These conclusions were reached by a collaboration of scientists from the University of California at Santa Barbara, the University of Georgia and the US Maritime Education Association [2].

Only 9% of plastic waste was recycled and 12% was incinerated. Everything else remained unutilized. For example, between 5 and 13 million tons of plastic are dumped into the world's oceans every year.
