Truman Capote (1924–1984) is one of the few American authors whose best works were translated and published here almost immediately after their publication in the USA (i.e. in the 1960s). In the case of Capote, this is the story “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (1958) and the documentary essay “In Cold Blood” (1966): they were published in excellent translations in the magazine “Foreign Literature”, which was read by literally everyone then, especially since it was published on “IL” public libraries were subscribed. For us, Truman Capote remained primarily the author of Breakfast at Tiffany's, but not because of the book, but thanks to the film (1961) starring the inimitable Audrey Hepburn...
