The HRC stood up for Ali Feruz

Today, August 3, the President of the Russian Federation on the development of civil society and human rights (HRC) stated that the deportation of journalist, Vecherdi Nurmatov (pseudonym - Ali Feruz) contradicts the Constitution of the Russian Federation and the European Human Rights Convention.

In his statement, the HRC notes that "for more than one month he has been dealing with the issue of resolving the legal status of Ali Feruz (the literary pseudonym of journalist H. Nurmatov) and intends to make all their forces to a successful resolution of this problem."

“The HRC takes into account that the family members of the journalist are citizens of the Russian Federation and, therefore, his expulsion from the country will contradict the requirements of Article 38 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation and Article 8 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms,” the Special Revolutionary.

The HRC also quotes a scan of letters received from the editorial office of Novaya Gazeta in the case of Ali Feruz in the name of President Vladimir Putin.

“We are very asking you to give him a chance to leave Russia, if you can’t help him stay in our country, but not to deport. - The letter says. - The German government is ready to accept it. It takes time to draw up documents, and this cannot be done in the insulator. It turns out a vicious circle: our country cannot provide it with a shelter without jockers, documents can only be obtained in Uzbekistan, but he cannot return with them from there ... ”

Vecherdi Nurmatov was forced to leave Uzbekistan after the local special services tried to recruit him. Since 2008, the journalist has been living in Russia, in early May, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation refused to provide him with political asylum.

On August 1, Nurmatova was detained by the police for violation of migration legislation, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow decided on its expulsion outside the Russian Federation, now it is in the center of temporary detention of migrants.

In defense of the journalist , the Human Rights Watch , reporters without borders and Amnesty International , as well as the Russian labor and media journalists' confederation, which will spend the Presidential Administration in Moscow in support of Vereberdi Nurmatov, spoke in defense of the journalist. The shares against its deportation will also be held in St. Petersburg, Berlin and Vilnius.

PS The Kremlin’s position regarding the deportation of Ali Feruza was explained by the presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“We know about the existence of this issue, but, let’s say, the situation is very difficult and a number of factors do not allow you to close our eyes to a number of violations that take place,” Peskova RBC quotes.
