Ex-senator Konstantin Tsybko was given nine years of strict regime for bribery

The Ozersky City Court of the Chelyabinsk Region sentenced ex-senator Konstantin Zybko to nine years in a maximum security colony, finding him guilty of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale (Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code).

As reported on the Investigative Committee’s website, in 2011, Tsybko received at least 11 million rubles from the head of the administration of the Ozersky urban district of the Chelyabinsk region, Evgeny Tarasov, for assistance in his appointment to the position.

In addition, investigators believe that in 2012, Tsybko, both personally and through the mediation of Tarasov, received 10 million rubles from businessman Oleg Laknitsky for lobbying his commercial interests and creating favorable conditions for the development of his companies.

Tsybko himself did not admit guilt. In addition to his term in prison, he was sentenced to a fine of 70 million rubles.
