Playerunknownʼs Battlegrounds: A game that has been by the popularity of GTA V and catch up with Counter-Strike: GO

Playerunknownʼs Battlegrounds is one of the most popular games right now. Through the Steam service, hundreds of thousands of users constantly play it. According to Steam statistics for August 3, the maximum number of people who at the same time entered the game amounted to 479 thousand. This is a little less than Counter-Strike: GO, which occupies the second line in statistics, and six times more than in GTA V in the first place with a wide margin-traditionally Dota 2.

In July, Playerunknownʼs Battlegrounds simultaneously played more people at the same time than ever connected through Steam to Fallout 4 and the same GTA V.

Playerunknownʼs Battlegrounds is an online player in which up to 100 people compete simultaneously. Players are thrown from an airplane to a huge island of about 8 × 8 kilometers. They have neither weapons nor equipment with them - all this needs to be sought on the ground (objects are accidentally scattered on the map).

After that, players begin to hunt each other. So that they do not sit still, the concept of a safe zone is introduced into the game: a circle appears around a random point on the map, its radius gradually decreases. Anyone who is outside the circle gradually receives damage and, as a result, may die.

In order to more strongly encourage the movement of the players and the clash between them, a plane sometimes flies over the map, dropping useful items in random places. In addition, an artillery blow can sometimes fall on the site in which the player sits.

In Playerunknownʼs Battlegrounds, you can play one way or small teams of up to four people. The one who survives the last wins. The round lasts about half an hour.

Playerunknownʼs Battlegrounds was released in March 2017. More precisely, it has not yet come out, but for four months it can be played for four months. Thanks to the Early Access function in the Steam digital store: users can buy an unfinished game and try it even in the development process. And the creators of Battlegrounds continue to improve it, focusing on the reaction of the players.

In the first four months, six million copies of the game were sold. The full exit of BattleGrounds is scheduled for the end of 2017.

There is only one map in the game - “abandoned Russian island” with settlements Sosnovka Military Base, Roozhok, Yasnaya Polyana and so on . The developers say that they work on two more cards, but they are so large and complex that they should not wait for their soon appearance.

In Playerunknownʼs Battlegrounds, the main one was the third -person mode, but players could switch to the first -person look. In early August, it became possible to play on servers, where everyone has only a first -person view.

The game is available only on Windows. You can buy it only on Steam , it costs 29.99 euros (in Russia - 899 rubles). The developers plan to release versions for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 after they finish the Windows version.
