The European Court communicated ten complaints from Russian activists

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) communicated ten complaints from civil activists from Russia. The Public Verdict Foundation wrote about this on Facebook on August 3.

Among the applicants are Irina Kalmykova, Elena Koroleva, Maria Ryabikova, Anastasia Sheveleva, their interests are represented by Nikolai Zboroshenko. All four were detained at a rally on May 11, 2015 in support of Savchenko at one of the Moscow pre-trial detention centers and spent the night in police departments. All of them were accused of participating in the protest without filing the appropriate notification.

According to the applicants' representatives, Russia violated the right of detainees not to be subjected to degrading treatment and the right to an effective remedy (Articles 3 and 13 ECHR).

Earlier it became known that the European Court communicated the complaint of Roman Roslovtsev, who was repeatedly detained for walking in a Putin mask in the center of Moscow.

Roslovtsev complains about detentions on March 24 on the Kremlin embankment and on April 1 , 15 , 20 , May 14 and June 10 on Red Square. On May 14, Yuri Merzlov was detained together with Roslovtsev, who was also walking in a Putin mask; in other cases, Roslovtsev was alone. In some cases, the walk was accompanied by a demonstration of the banner “I’m not afraid 212.1” (we are talking about an article of the Criminal Code that punishes “repeated violations of the rules for holding public events”), or Roslovtsev was wearing a T-shirt with the same slogan.
