In Ryazan, archaeologists were not allowed to hold a press conference due to the participation of oppositionists

The scientific and practical center "Ryazan Archaeological Expedition" was forced to cancel the first press conference, as it was twice refused to provide premises. This was reported on August 3 by the 7 × 7 portal with reference to the director of the NPC Vasily Konov. A press conference dedicated to the results of the first half of the archaeological season in the region was scheduled for August 3rd.

According to the director, at first he asked for a room in the Gorky Regional Library. They refused without explanation. Then Konov turned to the administration of the Stary Gorod Hotel, where conference rooms are often rented. There, he was first told that the air conditioners were not working, but they promised that "the windows would be opened and everything would be fine." But in the end they refused there too, and the same malfunction of air conditioners became the official reason.

Konov, quoted by the portal, believes that the real reason for the refusal could be the participation in the press conference of two people who, according to him, "have long been labeled oppositionists." We are talking about a member of the Ryazan Historical and Cultural Society, President of the Okraina Film Festival Alexander Nikitin and the Secretary of the Society, head of the Committee for the Protection of the Ryazan Kremlin, member of PARNAS Irina Kusova. The latter is also known to have recently taken part in a number of protest events, including #Tired on April 29 and Demand Answers on June 12.
