The UN Security Council tightened sanctions against North Korea

The United Nations (UN) Security Council has approved new sanctions against North Korea for conducting missile tests in July. It is reported by Reuters.

Diplomats estimate that sanctions could cut North Korea's annual export earnings by a third, to about $3 billion.

According to the agency, the document prohibits the import of coal, iron, lead and seafood from the DPRK. In addition, the Security Council resolution prohibits countries from creating new joint ventures with Pyongyang and increasing the number of North Korean workers in their territories.

The new sanctions came in response to North Korea's launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Recall that in July, the Central Telegraph Agency of the DPRK twice reported the successful launch of the Hwaseong-14 intercontinental ballistic missile. After the first missile launch by North Korea, American bombers flew over the Korean Peninsula, and US President Donald Trump condemned the actions of the DPRK.
