Where did Daenerys come from dragons?

Daenerys Targaryen received three dragon eggs as a gift for a wedding with Khal Drogo. When the drogo died, the eggs were laid in a funeral bonfire, into which Daenerys herself entered - and survived. Three dragons were born in the fire, which Daenerys called Drogon, Reagal and Vizerion.

At first, Daenerys could not understand how much dragons could control, but then she learned to manage them and even fly on the back of her “children”.

Who came up with dragons?

There is no single version of the origin of mythical animals. They are found in the folklore of many peoples around the world, especially European ones. For example, there is a dragon both in Beowulf and in Russian folk tales. Researchers agree that the dragons have absorbed the qualities of animals and natural threats that a person caused primitive fear.

Dragons in the “Game of Thrones”, as the author of the book “The Science of Monsters” Matt Kaplan, told NBC, are most similar to creatures invented by John Ronald Ruel Tolkin. According to Kaplan, in the “hobbit” the English writer created a classic average version of the dragon from European tales, and the fire -breathing creatures of “Game of Thrones” are almost nothing from it.

Dragons can exist in reality?

There are no fire-breathing animals in nature, but there are bomber beetles that are able to spit with hot chemical fluid. Even if the dragons from the Game of Thrones existed in reality, they could not take off. The wings of the dragons are similar to the wings of bats and have more lifting force than birds, but the weight of the animals would still be too great. As stated in the material of the scientific publication N+1, the approximate dimensions of the largest of the dragons of Daenerys Drogon are 10 meters in length, the wingspan is 10.2 meters, and the area of ​​the wings is 17.5 square meters (the data is designed on the basis of the ninth series of the fifth season, where the drogon saves the hostess from the sons of the Harpy). With such parameters, the drogon should weigh one or two tons-approximately like an extinct allosaurus, which in the structure of the skeleton looks like a Daeneris dragon.
