“Turkey hides an epidemic of a dangerous Koksaki virus at its resorts” - the news with such a headline was published on August 7 REN. Other media picked up this message, and users of social networks began to report on diseases of the Koksaki virus already in Russia.
The source of the REN report is two Russian families with sick children, in one of which “personally saw a 30 person”, infected with the virus. At the same time, the author of the report declares “hundreds of indignant tourists”, who allegedly faced a similar situation. "Izvestia" Russian tourist Alina Novikova already spoke about 60 sick. These statements are not supported by any comments by local authorities or data specified in hospitals.
The Russian Consulate in Antalya said that they only know about the "individual" cases of diseases: "There is no excitement, there are no panic about viruses." Moreover, the consulate relies only on the words of the tourists themselves, who call and say that they seem to be infected with the Koksaki virus. Rospotrebnadzor opened a hot line to receive messages about the Koksaki virus, but so far only five people called there, who had at least some health problems in Turkey over the past two months.
Information about the mass departure of tourists due to the virus was also not confirmed , although the Association of Russian tour operators said that they were also called about the reports of the epidemic. The Russian Union of the Turin industry noted that without an official announcement of the epidemic, the cancellation of the tour without fines for cancellation is impossible.
The Koksaki virus is not the name of the disease, but the name of a group of viruses that can cause different diseases. The most frequent of them are the disease “hand-foot” and herpangin .
These are common diseases that children often suffer, especially in resorts in the warm season. You can’t call them pleasant: in children and adults, a high temperature rises, the throat hurts and a rash appears like the one that happens with chickenpox. But it is also difficult to call such diseases especially dangerous . In the usual case, they pass by themselves for 10 days. There is no special treatment: doctors recommend soften the symptoms with analgesic and cold drinks and monitor complications.
Diseases caused by Koksaki viruses are transmitted in contact - for example through dishes. So if someone is sick in the family, you need to monitor the separation of dishes, as well as often and thoroughly wash your hands.
