The court of appeal suspended the execution of the decision on the deportation of Ali Feruz

The Moscow City Court suspended the execution of a decision on the deportation of the Novaya Gazeta journalist Ali Feruz in Uzbekistan on the basis of a notification of the European Court of Human Rights. The ECHR forbade Russia to send Feruz. Before the end of the trial, the journalist will be kept at the Center for Temporary Contents of Foreign Citizens (TsVSIG).

Today in court, the mother of Feruza said that she is a citizen of the Russian Federation from birth, and all her children live in Russia.

Single pickets were held at the Moscow City Court building in support of Feruz.

Ali was detained and delivered to the Department of Internal Affairs on August 1, where it drew up a protocol under part 3.1 of Art. 18.8 Code of Administrative Offenses (violation by a foreign citizen of the stay regime in the Russian Federation), which implies mandatory expulsion from the country.

The last time he was detained in March, they also wanted to deport. In the police, Ali saw a man whom he identified as an employee of Uzbek special services.

8 years ago, the journalist left Uzbekistan due to the fact that the special services of this country inclined him to cooperate, but he did not want such cooperation. Before Feruza managed to escape, he was tortured.

Ali filed a petition to provide him with a temporary asylum in Russia, which was denied. He appealed this decision and there was no complaint yet, the refusal has not yet entered into force - therefore, so far it has the right to be in Russia quite legally.

After the decision of the Basmanny Court on the deportation of Feruz was placed in TsVSIG. When transporting there, one of the convoy insulted the journalist, referring to his sexual orientation (Ali Feruz-open gay-OVD-info), beat him with a stormer shocker and said: "Such as you ... I better burn with a stamper shocker." After the beating, Ali began to feel pain in the heart.

On August 4, the European Court of Human Rights has made a decision prohibiting the Russian authorities to deport Ali to Uzbekistan.
