Representatives of the FSB department in Bashkiria opened four criminal cases against supporters of the local branch of the Tablighi Jamaat religious organization, which is recognized as extremist in Russia. Cases were brought under Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of an extremist organization). It is reported by Interfax-Povolzhye.
Three suspected residents of the Tuymazinsky and Sharansky districts were detained, and another was put on the federal wanted list. During the searches in the houses of the suspects, literature and campaign materials were confiscated, which the representatives of Tablighi Jamaat allegedly use to recruit new members.
According to the press service of the FSB of the republic, the four detained supporters of Tablighi Jamaat were part of a “conspiratorial cell” of the organization, which was “activated at the direction of foreign curators” after the “neutralization” of the activities of another cell of Tablighi Jamaat in Bashkiria.
