Hackers who hacking the network of HBO TV channel could fake some documents

Hackers who hacked the HBO cable channel network deliberately forged at least one of the documents they lay out so that it looked believable and impressive. We are talking about the e -mail of the general director of HBO Richard Plefer, who, according to the attackers, they managed to hack.

In fact, perhaps this was not done, since the hackers presented the fake base as evidence of the leakage of important documents. It is reported by Variety with reference to the source in the investigation.

This fact is in doubt about the legitimacy of the claims of hackers and the reliability of another, according to them, information. On the eve of the crackers sent a number of illegally obtained documents to some media to prove the fact of hacking.

On Tuesday, it became known that hackers published a script for the fifth episode of the new season of the popular series "Game of Thrones" and personal correspondence of one of the leaders of HBO.

Attackers also recorded a video message to Richard Pleser, in which they demanded that they pay them a ransom for the stolen data within three days, threatening to continue the release of information. The exact amount was not called, according to some reports, attackers apply for several million dollars.

It was reported that among the documents, the access to which hackers received were also files with marketing calculations and advertising plans of the company. At the same time, the detection among the documents of the fake file may mean that perhaps not all the confidential data that hackers speak of.

As for the file with the mail, presumably, it was data from the personal mail of another high -ranking HBO manager, below the rank. Apparently, in order to give weight to the documents, the kidnappers redid the archive so that it looked like a pleower correspondence.

HBO is investigating a hacker attack. According to Reuters, the FBI employees take part in the investigation. The company confirmed that the management in attempts to understand the incident cooperates with law enforcement agencies and with cybersecurity specialists.

Earlier it was reported that hackers stole the HBO 1.5 terrace of confidential data from the HBO television channel, including the working material and scenarios of future series of "Game of Thrones".
