The police decided to check the legality of the rally on the Days of Remembrance for the Victims of Repression on Solovki

The administration of the village of Solovetsky sent an appeal to the district police officer with a request to check whether the rally as part of the Days of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions on the Solovetsky Islands violated the rules for holding mass events. As a result, the organizers of the Days of Remembrance were summoned to the police station, human rights activist Alexandra Krylenkova wrote on Facebook.

She said that initially the district police officer tried to get through to the organizer Irina Fliege, but “the connection on Solovki is bad in places, very bad in places, and in places not at all.” After that, he came to the hotel to conduct an interview as part of an administrative investigation.

“An attempt to conduct a survey in a hotel room and record the answers by hand ended in failure, as we required verbatim recording of answers, and also corrected inaccuracies in the protocol. Then Captain Karpov wrote out a summons to us on a simple white piece of paper demanding to come to the precinct in 15 minutes (there is no police department on Solovki either),” Krylenkova wrote.

According to her, at the polling station the poll was continued with fixation on the computer, but after about an hour (at about 22:00) the computer hung up, and the poll started all over again. The organizers were released from the police at 23:55.

The police officer promised to give the results of the check after consultation with an employee of the Arkhangelsk prosecutor's office on August 9 at 15:00.

Krylenkova noted that the commemorative rally on the Days of Remembrance on the Solovetsky Islands has been going on for 29 years, but this year “something went wrong.”
