Kirill Serebrennikov became the winner of the New Theater Reality Prize

In 2017, the Prize of the European Commission for the Creative Search “New Theater Reality” was awarded to the Russian director, artistic director of the Gogol Center Theater Kirill Serebrennikov.

“The list of nominees is huge, and some of the directors of the first row (Cornel Mundruzzo, Milo Rau, Gzhegosh Yazhin, Dimitris Papaioanna ...) have been waiting for their turn for many years. Cyril was nominated this year for the first time, ”she wrote, adding that the jury chose Serebrennikov with a laureate almost unanimously.

“He is now at the peak of international and festival glory. And the Gogol Center he created, all the jury members who managed to visit there called the most interesting theatrical space created in Europe in Europe, ”said Davydova.

She also said that the New Theater Reality Prize is awarded simultaneously with the European -theater Award. This year, actors Isabelle Jupper and Jeremy Irons will receive it.

The New Theater Reality Prize has been awarded since 1990. The directors of Anatoly Vasiliev (1990) and Andrey Moguchy became its Russian laureates (2011).

The presentation of the Prizes "Europe - Theater" and "New theater Reality" will be held in December in Rome.
