The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow sentenced Valery Parfenov and Kirill Barabash to 4 years in a general regime colony, Alexander Sokolov to 3.5 years in a general regime colony, and Yuri Mukhin received 4 years probation. This is reported by a member of OVD-Info from the courtroom. In addition, Barabash was stripped of the rank of lieutenant colonel of the Armed Forces.
None of the defendants in the case pleaded guilty.
In the case of the Army of the Will of the People, four people were on trial: the former editor-in-chief of the Duel newspaper, Yuri Mukhin (later released on bail) and his associates, RBC journalist Alexander Sokolov, Valery Parfenov and Kirill Barabash. They were accused of continuing the activities of the banned organization People's Will Army (AVN) under the guise of an initiative group preparing the referendum "For Responsible Power". AVN was banned for a leaflet that called for a referendum and the inclusion of an article in the Constitution on the accountability of officials to the population.
