The Ministry of Culture issued Matilde a rental certificate

The film "Matilda" by Alexei Teacher received a rental certificate. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the head of the Department of Cinematography of Vyacheslav Telnov.

According to him, the Ministry of Culture watched the film and concluded that "there was nothing banned in the film."

“We issued a rental certificate throughout the territory of Russia, there are rolling film companies that carry out a show in the regions,” Telnov said.

He clarified that the regional authorities will be able to "independently determine the feasibility of showing a particular film." According to Telnov, State Duma deputy Natalya Poklonskaya acts in the legal field, but at the moment the Ministry of Culture “has more concrete and objective information about the picture”, in which they did not find insults of the feelings of believers.

Later, the director said that during a short personal meeting with Poklonskaya, he invited her to look at the picture, and then say “bad or good words”. According to him, the deputy "categorically refused." He added that he considers the decision of the Ministry of Culture to the authors of the "obscurantist campaign against the film."

Poklonskaya several times asked the Prosecutor General’s office to check the teacher’s film to insult the feelings of believers. The head of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, asked for the ban on the show of Matilda in Chechnya. The authorities of Dagestan made the same request.

The film "Matilda" talks about the relationship of the future Emperor Nicholas II and the ballerina Matilda Kshesinskaya. The picture will be released on October 25, 2017.
