Fansy Bear hackers attacked European hotels

The Russian hacker group Fansy Bear, related to the GRU, Krala data from computers of Western officials and businessmen through the WiFi hotels in Europe and the Middle East, where they stayed. This is stated in the report of specialists in cybersecurity from the American company Fireye.

Kiberataki was committed in early July at least seven European and one Middle Eastern country, the document says. Hackers sent the virus hotel companies by e -mail under the guise of a new guest registration form. As soon as the hotel staff opened a malicious file, the wireless network was infected.

The representative of Fireye told Reuters that hacking “many hotel networks” touched and the company does not have data on the full scale of the cyber attack.

With the help of the virus, hackers intercepted passwords and uninfected data that hotel guests transmitted through the network.

It was reported that the latest cyber attacks by the Fancy Bear managed to disrupt at an early stage.

The document notes that exactly the same attacks on the hotels have already taken place in the fall of 2016. Then the crackers managed to access the data of one American official.

The Fancy Bear group (also known as APT 28, Sofacy) has repeatedly attacked the European Union countries. In May, the day before the second round of the presidential election in France, the postal headquarters of the current president of the country Emmanuel Macron was hacked. Attaccents published the correspondence of the headquarters. According to the metadata in the files posted into the network, it was possible to determine that it was involved in the hacking. On July 27, information appeared that Fancy Bear participants through Facebook spied behind the functionaries of the macron headquarters .

In April, the same group was accused of reading the correspondence of the Danish military .
