A volunteer from Navalny’s headquarters was detained in Izhevsk, distributing propaganda newspapers

In the center of Izhevsk, a volunteer from the headquarters of politician Alexei Navalny, who was distributing propaganda newspapers, was detained, according to the group “Team Navalny | Izhevsk".

“Today at 13:30 (12:30 Moscow time - MZ), our volunteer Emil was detained on Pushkinskaya Street for distributing newspapers,” the message said.

The volunteer was taken to the Pervomaisky police station. The police told the activist that they were not going to bring any charges against him, but would take away his campaign materials.

As another volunteer of the headquarters, Artem Agafonov, told OVD-Info, the detainee is being questioned by the police.

Headquarters employee Marina Merzlyakova clarified to Mediazona that Emil contacted the headquarters by phone when he was detained, but later stopped answering calls.

According to the coordinator of the Izhevsk headquarters, Sergei Urban, on the eve of August 11, the police seized campaign materials from the PEK transport company that were supposed to be delivered to the headquarters.

Updated at 1:38 p.m. The volunteer was released from the police department. Navalny's headquarters newspapers were taken from him. The personal search protocol does not indicate the grounds for the seizure of newspapers.
