Ukraine got rid of monuments to Lenin

In the territory controlled by the authorities of Ukraine, the dismantling of all monuments to Lenin is completed.

This was announced by the information agency "LIGABBISINFOR" Director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory Vladimir Vyatrovich.

“2389 monuments were dismantled, of which 1320 Lenin monuments. According to our information, Lenin is no longer in cities - in the territory that is controlled by Ukraine. Perhaps they remained in rural areas and in the territory of enterprises, ”said Vetrovich.

He noted that most of the demolished monuments were destroyed, since they were “ordinary gypsum figures that have no material or historical value, were made according to a single canon.”

“Those that are the material value, for example, from bronze, could be melted. Part is preserved for the museum, ”Vyatrovich explained. We are talking about the Museum of Monumental Propaganda of the USSR, which is planned to be opened in Kyiv at the end of the year.

The director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory also said that the process of decommunization in Ukraine is practically completed: 52 thousand streets, 987 settlements, including 32 cities that wore the names of party and statesmen from the USSR, were renamed.
