The exhibition about Shiryaevsky Biennale will be held in Moscow

From August 31 to October 8, the State Center for Contemporary Art (GCS) will host the Shiryaevsky Biennale exhibition. Central Russian Zen ”, prepared by the Central Volga branch of the GCS.

“The exhibition is a metaphorical understanding of the experience of the oldest in Russia the current international Biennale of Contemporary Art, which has been held since 1999 in the old Russian village of Shiryaevo on the banks of the Volga,” the organizers said.

Since then, the Shiryaevsky Biennale has become the most famous in the international community by the Samara region project in the field of contemporary art. At different times, its participants were artists and curators of special programs from Russia, Kazakhstan, Germany, France, Great Britain, Sweden, Austria, Italy, Lithuania, Estonia of Armenia, Denmark, the USA, Netherlands, Singapore, Norway.

The exposition of the Moscow exhibition Archive Biennale-photographs, videos, objects and installations from the personal collection of the founders of the Shiryaevsky Biennale Neli and Roman Korzhovs, which are the curators of the exhibition. Its conceptual solution - the video chronicle of Biennale, as well as the river sand covering the exhibition hall and the catwalks made of bottled stone mined in Shiryaevo for the past 200 years - was made in the form of total installation.

The exhibition will be accompanied by an educational and performance program both in the HCSI building and in urban space.
