This has not happened with Sevastopol for 23 years. In 1994, for the first and last time, the hero city chose the official mayor-then he was a native of Vladivostok Viktor Semenov, who went to the polls under the slogan "Russia will come to Sevastopol." In February 2014, Alexei Chaly was elected at a rally of unity in Sevastopol by the “People’s mayor” of the city, but his position was still a semi-official.

And on September 10, on a single voting day, Sevastopol will choose a governor for himself. Moreover, five candidates claim the position at once.

Favorite is the acting acting Dmitry Ovsyannikov. And the point is not in specific affairs or a strong program, and not even that, according to the VTsIOM survey, the trust rating for the current chapter of the city is 65%. The key factor in Ovsyannikov’s future success is the support of the country's President Vladimir Putin.

Ovsyannikov’s main competitor is the Communist Roman Kiyashko, who, in addition to the Communist Party, is still in seven parties, including “Fair Russia”.

Three other applicants for the chair are Liberal-Democrat Ilya Zhuravlev, candidate from the Patriots of Russia Ivan Ermakov and the Stavropolets Ivan Kryazhev-technical figures nominated by the CPSU party.

The presence of an election headquarters and a program, however, is not at all a prerequisite for winning the elections in Sevastopol. Dmitry Ovsyannikov’s trump card is a “binding” to Putin, whose rating in the city strives for 100%.

The president will support Ovsyannikov personally: for this he will arrive in Sevastopol on Friday. Together, the head of the region and the head of state will visit the festival of opera music in Khersones and a bike show on Mount Gasfort.

The acting governor has a large group of opponents - these are gardeners, summer residents and just residents of private houses.
