Viktor Yanukovych's lawyer took self -assignment

The lawyer of the former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych Vitaly Meshek refused to defend him in the case of the Stateizer. Meshek stated this in court. The court accepted the self -defender's self -configure.

The lawyer emphasized that Yanukovych's case was too complicated for him. According to the law, several state lawyers cannot be appointed simultaneously. Therefore, Meshek said that he alone could not provide high -quality defense of Yanukovych. The lawyer emphasized that he had no assistants. The prosecutors opposed the self -discharge. They called this an attempt to disrupt the process.

Ex-President of Ukraine Yanukovych is now hiding in Russia. The court passes in absentia. He is charged with “an encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine”, “state treason” and “conducting an aggressive war”. Yanukovych is also accused of the fact that during the confrontation on the Maidan in 2014, he turned to the Kremlin with a request to introduce troops into the territory of Ukraine. The prosecution intends to demand for the former president of the lifelong imprisonment. Yanukovych does not admit his guilt.
