On August 18, in the center of Grozny, an “action of repentance” was held by the residents of the village of Krasnaya Turbina, who had previously signed a letter to the Prosecutor General with a request to ensure the legal consideration of the case of their fellow villagers. This is reported by Novaya Gazeta. According to the publication, people were brought to the event by bus from the police department, and then taken back.
The letter, signed by the residents of the village, dealt with the trial of Magomed Taramov and Jamalai Tazbiev, who are accused of preparing to participate in an illegal armed group: according to the investigation, they were going to leave for Syria. The villagers, according to the newspaper, were forced to admit that they had signed the letter without reading it. At the "action of repentance" they had to chant "We were misled!", reports Novaya.
At the trial, Taramov and Tazbiev reported being tortured. On August 17, their relatives were taken to the police department of the Staropromyslovsky district for a meeting with the speaker of the Chechen parliament, Magomed Daudov. Magomed Taramov's father managed to call his lawyer and report that they were being beaten, wrote . Novaya Gazeta
After that, Taramov and Tazbiev pleaded guilty at the trial, refused the statement about torture and the services of a lawyer.
