In Surgut, on the morning of August 19, a criminal with a knife wounded seven people on the street.
The police officers who arrived at the scene killed the attacker, the Investigative Committee reports.
The victims were taken to hospital. Two people are in serious condition, five are in moderate condition, Znak.com reports , citing Vladislav Nigmatulin, deputy head of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug Health Department.
A video has been published online that was allegedly filmed after the attacker was killed.
The Investigative Committee reports one attacker; the VKontakte group “Our Surgut” writes about two attackers in “jackets with black hoods.” Several attackers are also mentioned in the dispatch service’s message, a copy of which was published online. There is no official confirmation of the information about the second participant in the attack.
The attacks took place in the vicinity of Lenin Avenue. The group "Our Surgut" published a message from the dispatch service (its reliability has not been confirmed) about calls from citizens, according to which the criminal threw a smoke bomb in the "Severny" store. The fire in the store is also mentioned on social networks.
The Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that they are checking information about the possible mental disorder of the criminal.
A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 30, paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder).
