South Africa has given Robert Mugabe's wife diplomatic immunity. She was accused of assaulting a local model

The South African Foreign Ministry has granted Grace Mugabe, the wife of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, diplomatic immunity. This was reported in the materials of the country's official press organ dated August 20.

Earlier it became known that Grace Mugabe returned from South Africa to Zimbabwe, although charges of assault were brought against her. The Mugabes arrived in Harare on the morning of 20 August.

• South African model Gabriela Angels accused Grace Mugabe of beating her with an extension cord in a hotel room. Mugabe did not appear in court, but Reuters sources said she intended to receive diplomatic immunity.
