Australia: a plan for preventing terrorist attacks is made public

Australia published a plan for preventing terrorist attacks using vehicles in public places overwhelmed by people. Australia Prime Minister Malcolm Ternbull reported this three days after the attacks in Barcelona, as a result of which 14 people were killed. According to Ternbull, "as we saw on the example of tragic events in Paris, London, Berlin and Barcelona, terrorists continue to attack the places of mass accumulation of people."

This plan provides local authorities and enterprises instructions for measures that can help reduce the danger of terrorist attacks, including the installation of concrete blocks and other barriers, such as monuments and trees that can slow down the passage of a dangerous vehicle. The best barriers are at the design stage, Ternbull told reporters in Sydney.

“You cannot protect each object by 100 percent-there are things that can only be done with existing objects-but most importantly, when you make new developments, new construction plans so that safety measures are in advance,” the Prime Minister said.

Initially, this strategy was proposed after in July 2016 a man in a truck crashed into a crowd of people in the southern French city of Nice, as a result of which 86 people died.
