Catalonia: Terrorist Abuyakub shot the police

22-year-old Yunes Abuyakub, a participant in terrorist attacks in Catalonia, was shot dead by the police in the Sibruts municipality about 50 kilometers from Barcelona. This was reported on Twitter of the department. Law enforcement officers opened fire, because on Abuyakub there was an object resembling a shahid belt.

Thus, they were enclosed in the police, now all 12 persons who were originally suspected of involvement in the terrorist attacks are dead. Eight alleged terrorists at different times died under various circumstances, and the rest of the four were detained.

However, law enforcement officers assured, the investigation of the case continues.

On Saturday, it was suggested that Abuyakub, who was considered the main suspect in the case, fled to France .

On August 16, at about 17 hours in Barcelona, ​​a terrorist attack was committed . Fiat van at high speed drove about 600 meters through the Rambla pedestrian boulevard, knocking down passers -by. 13 people died, 119 were injured. The terrorists disappeared.

On the night of the 17th in the city of Cambrils south of the Catalan capital, five criminals on Audi also crashed into pedestrians . The police shot four Islamists, the fifth died in the hospital. As a result of the collision, eight people were injured, including two police officers. One of the victims later died.

Four defendants in the case were detained on the same days. Two more were killed in a random explosion in the warehouse of bombs and butan in the city of Alkanar on the night of the 16th. Abuyakub has remained wanted for the last days.

According to the police, the Islamists decided to limit themselves to raids precisely after the explosion in Alkanar. On Saturday, the media reported that it was originally planned to blow up three vans in the crowded places of Barcelona .

One of the goals was named the famous Cathedral of Sagrada-Familia (Holy Family), which has been built since 1882 according to the project of the great Catalan architect Antonio Gaudi. Whether it was supposed to blow up the van in the church itself or next to it, it was not explained.

The second place of the explosion was called Rambla. The third object of the media did not specify - only the assumption expressed that the terrorists chose a place in the port area.

On Sunday, the media reported that Abdelbaki al-Satti, the imam of the mosque in the town of Ripol, the province of Girona were also suspected of terrorist attacks . Presumably, it was his remains that were discovered at the site of the building in Alkanar, destroyed by an accidental explosion.

At the same time, it was noted that, judging by the sermons of Abdelbaki, he was far from radical Islam. The search in the apartment of Imam also did not give any evidence of his involvement in the attacks.

However, the media indicated, two months ago Abdelbaki suddenly left Ripol - perhaps to Belgium, where he had already been several times before. It was reported that, according to one version of law enforcement officers, in Belgium Abdelbaki entered into contact with the radical Islamists, after which, perhaps, he became one of the organizers of the attack in Barcelona.
