In St. Petersburg, on the Field of Mars, from now on it was forbidden to hold rallies without the consent of the authorities. The governor of the city, Georgy Poltavchenko, signed a decree on this on August 17.
The representative of the head of St. Petersburg, Andrey Kibitov, said that Poltavchenko decided to exclude the Field of Mars from the list of Hyde Parks due to mass appeals from citizens who complained about "rallies at a mass grave."
The de-listing document for the Champ de Mars Hyde Park was signed on August 17, five days after a rally by LGBT supporters that ended in an attack on young right-wing activists and journalists.
