In St. Petersburg, Marse Field was excluded from the Hyde Park list. According to Fontanka on Monday, the corresponding resolution was signed on August 17 by the city governor Georgy Poltavchenko. Thus, on the square it is no longer possible to hold shares without coordination with the authorities.
Until recently, Marso the field remained the only "Hyde Park" in the center of St. Petersburg. Mass protests were repeatedly held on the square. Here, in particular, on June 12, a rally was held against corruption , organized by supporters of the opposition politician Alexei Navalny.
Despite the fact that Russian legislation permits to hold shares in the Hyde Parks without coordination with the authorities, participants in the protests on the Marse field were repeatedly detained. On August 12, the square was attacked by LGBT activists , as well as journalists who removed the action of representatives of sex minorities.
