The case of fraud in which Serebrennikov became the accused was opened back in 2015. The chairman of the Civil Rights Commission of the Council of Human Rights under President Nikolai Svanidze believes that the detention of director Kirill Serebrennikov is too demonstrative. “It is not clear why they do so brutally with him. Is he, a rapist, a serial killer, is dangerous for society? Why should it be detained? He is an absolutely law -abiding citizen, not inclined to shoots or violence.
