The head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of the Russian Federation for the Rostov Region Valery Panov at a meeting of the regional government said that the main reason for the fire is to “bring an extraneous ignition source”. According to the Ministry of Emergencies, the landfill was located behind the house No. 50 on Chuvashsky Lane. “With this power of the wind, the transfer of the focus of fire to different places went,” Panov added.

Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs already initiated a criminal case for intentional destruction or damage to property by arson (part 2 of article 167 of the Criminal Code), although it was emphasized that it was too early to talk about the fact of arson.

Many residents of the burned houses are sure that the fire arranged the so -called “black realtors”, who, supposedly, intend to redeem the land under the burnt houses for the construction of a new residential quarter there.

A fire in the private sector in the very center of Rostov-on-Don, recall, broke out on the afternoon of August 21. At first it spread to 25 residential buildings, and then covered 120 buildings standing nearby. So far, one deceased is known. The corpse of a man was found when analyzing the remains of house No. 67 on Chuvashsky Lane. At least 45 people were injured, five were hospitalized.

During the extinguishing of the fire, the city center was blocked, gas and electricity were disconnected. The regional authorities introduced an emergency regime first in the city, and then throughout the region. According to the Ministry of Emergencies, more than 1900 people and more than 200 units of equipment, including helicopters and fire boat, participated in the fight against fire, according to the Ministry of Emergencies. The fire was extinguished on the evening of August 21.

The authorities of the Rostov region promised to provide financial assistance to the victims in the fire. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev also stated that the government will assist in providing medical care, placing the victims and evaluating the damage.

It is not yet known whether the burned houses were insured, and if so, if the owners have enough compensation for the construction of new housing.

Note that in many Russian cities in the center 1-2 floor wooden buildings are preserved and fires often occur. Such a scale as in Rostov-on-Don is really striking, but earlier many “single” fires occurred in Astrakhan, Cossacks and other cities, after which realtors were bought under them and erected multi-storey buildings. Including this is why developers, as a rule, are suspected that they are involved in arson.
