Theater critic Marina Davydova published on her Facebook an appeal to Russian theaters in connection with the beginning of the season and the detention of Kirill Serebrennikov. The editors of Coolites are in solidarity with this text, it will register it And signed under this appeal.
I have a countless letter in my mail. To the question asked to me "What to do now?" I have no answer. I'm afraid that no one has it now. But I know exactly what you can’t do!
Because I received a fair portion of letters from different theaters, which, as nothing had happened, call me (and, apparently, my colleagues too) at a press conference on the opening of the season.
We really have the opening of the season, and this is what you can’t do in the near future is to tell about new plans, announce festival programs, present a variety of projects, conduct some “schools of a young director” as if nothing had happened.
The first and main paragraph of all press conferences, all presentations, all the interviews of the Khudruk press, all theatrical “events” from now on should be the question of the “Cyril Serebrennikov case”-regardless of the outcome of today's court hearing.
Delivery of a famous director under escort from St. Petersburg to Moscow is such an ominous rhyme with the arrest of another director of the director in 1939, that even the most indifferent theater figure, at least a slightly knowledgeable story, should flinch. The mantra “I am not interested in politics” in the theater environment can now say only a villain.
I don't know what to do. But I know what you can’t do. You can’t open the current season as if nothing had happened !!!!
A separate appeal to journalists.
Dear radio workers, sites, newspapers, magazines, television channels, I suggest that all of you and all of us boycott those teams whose leaders, arts are, director, stars, “frontmen” will be silent. Let them make further the view that what happened does not concern them, and we will pretend that they, their opening the season, their next versions of Hamlet or Hot Hearts do not touch us.
I urge theaters not to be silent. I urge the journalists to be silent about those who are silent. I'm not talking about a plan of salvation - I don’t have it, I am talking exclusively about a hygienic minimum.
Let's at least do what to do ashamed.
