The investigation is affected by the placement of the artistic director of the Gogol Center, Kirill Serebrennikov, who was accused of organizing theft of funds allocated in 2011-2014 for the implementation of the Platform project. This is reported by Interfax.
At a meeting of the Basmanny Court, where a meeting of the preventive measure for the director takes place, the investigator asked to put Serebrennikov under house arrest until October 19. Protection asks the director to be released on bail.
Serebrennikov himself also asked not to deprive him of freedom. “The charged is impossible and absurd,” the director said. “My position is that the Platform project took place. The money allocated by the state was spent on it. I am very proud of it.”
About 500 people gathered near the court building, the correspondent of "faces" reports. They applaud, chant the director’s name, shout “Freedom!” Police in a megaphone urge citizens not to interfere with the work of the court and free the roadway.
On Tuesday, Serebrennikov was detained in St. Petersburg, where he was on the set of the film, and delivered to Moscow. The press service of the TFR said that Serebrennikov was officially charged under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud on an especially large scale). "During the interrogation, he did not plead guilty as the accused," the TFR noted.
Serebrennikov was a witness in the case of the theft in the “Seventh Studio” founded by him. On May 23, searches went to various addresses, including the Gogol Center and the director himself . Later on the same day, the directorwas interrogated in the metropolitan head of the TFR .
On August 9, at the appeal, as the defendants of the case in the Moscow City Court, it became known that the former chief accountant of the Seventh Studio Nina Maslyaeva and her former subordinate Zhirikova testified against Serebrennikov and the ex-producer of the studio Alexei Malobrodsky. As follows from the testimony of Maslyaeva, they allegedly created a company for the theft of a state subsidy of 200 million rubles to support contemporary art. According to the ex-header, she helped to cash out funds, and Serebrennikov and Malobrodsky disposed of this money "at their discretion."
In addition, it became known that on July 25, the TFR brought the defendants the case of the Seventh Studio the new accusations. This happened after the case was transferred from the Moscow Directorate of the TFR to the central apparatus of the department. According to the lawyer of Lesser Ksenia Karpinskaya, the former employees of the company are charged with the fact that they "worked in the" seventh studio "and spent state money." At the same time, the charges do not specify how exactly the funds were spent. The accused is now charged with 68 million rubles of damage.
The director of the Seventh Studio Yuri Itin is also accused of the case. He is under house arrest. Maslyaeva and Malobrodsky arrested. On Tuesday, it became known thatproducer Ekaterina Voronova also passes in the case. She is put on the wanted list.

According to the plot of the case, in 2011-2014, the Ministry of Culture allocated to Serebrennikov over 214 million rubles for the implementation of the Platform project, launched for the development and popularization of contemporary art. To embody the project, the director formed an autonomous non -profit organization "Seventh Studio".
However, he believes the investigation, Malobrodsky, Voronova and Maslyaev, acting at the direction of Serebrennikov and Itin, during the preparation of plans for events, the data on their quantity and value deliberately overstated. Also, the department claims, Serebrennikov instructed other defendants to ensure the conclusion of the Seventh Studio with firms and private entrepreneurs controlled by him, including one-day companies, and fictitious agreements for the implementation of the Platform project. The funds transferred under these agreements were allegedly cashed and distributed by Serebrennikov between the defendants.
The total amount of theft, which was charged to the director and other accused, is, according to the TFR, at least 68 million rubles.
