On August 23, the Moscow Regional Court recognized as legal the decision of the Zheleznodorozhny City Court to recover two million 200 rubles in favor of activist Ildar Dadin as compensation for illegal criminal prosecution. RAPSI reports this.
During the hearing, Dadin’s defense demanded that the amount of compensation be increased to five million rubles.
In April 2017, Ildar Dadin filed a lawsuit against the Russian Ministry of Finance, represented by the Federal Treasury Department, demanding compensation for the damage that was caused to him by illegal criminal prosecution, as well as detention under house arrest and detention for more than two years.
In February, Dadin’s sentence on charges of repeated violation of the rules for holding public events was overturned by the Presidium of the Supreme Court on February 22. Dadin was sentenced to two and a half years in a general regime colony for four trips to the street, for three of which he had previously been administratively prosecuted.
