Explosion in Kyiv: three people were injured

At the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Grushevsky Street in the center of Kyiv there was an explosion. This was reported by UNIAN with reference to the metropolitan police.

Three people were injured, said the head of the National Police of Ukraine Sergey Knyazev. Initially, two victims were reported - a man and a woman. “The seriously wounded lies on the asphalt. Another man is wounded in the head,” eyewitnesses noted.

As activist Vitaly Gruzinov wrote on his FB page, unknown people threw an explosion-packet into the car of the Azerbaijani embassy, ​​but the explosives did not reach the target. Knyazev later said that unknown people threw an explosive device from the Mariinsky Park to the family who walked around Kyiv. According to Knyazev, the device did not reach the sidewalk and worked a few meters from it.

“I drove a car. There were several passers -by. And at that moment they threw it from above, or something exploded, but who threw it. I don’t know. I don’t know. The woman took a step and fell. She was wounded in the head. And the man was wounded in the head. But the elderly woman was wounded stronger. She was unconscious. There was a daughter, trying to bring her to her consciousness too ... The wounded man also tried to help the fallen. to a woman, ” said another eyewitness to what happened.

The government quarter of Kyiv is numbered by the police. Explosion equipment and an investigative-operational group arrived at the place. The secretary of the Council of National Security and Defense (NSDC) of Ukraine Alexander Turchinov and Knyazev arrived there.

The SBU is considered the main version of the incident hooliganism, said Elena Gitlyanskaya, spokeswoman for special services.

The explosion of the Cabinet could be a pre -prepared terrorist attack, said Turchinov. “We do not exclude that this is a planned attack that was tried to make so that not everyone can celebrate the holiday on Independence Day. Operatives, the National Police and the SBU work here. They understand the entire crime, and now the terrorists who did this are being searched,” the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council quoted the Gramadska of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

On the fact of the explosion, the case was opened under part 15 - part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempted murder committed in a socially dangerous way), according to the website of the National Police Department in Kiev.

On Thursday in Kyiv, a military parade is held in honor of the Day of Independence of Ukraine with the participation of President Petro Poroshenko, US Secretary of Defense James Mattis, as well as the heads of military departments of Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Montenegro, Estonia, Georgia, Moldova and Deputy Minister of Defense of Great Britain.

On the eve of the SBU, I warned of possible provocations during the celebration of Independence Day. “In the work, we have many materials that say that there is, let’s say, bad people or groups that are preparing to ruin the holiday. In different ways, you can ruin the holiday, we are not even talking about terrorist acts,” said the special services director Vasily Gritsak.
