It turned out that Imam spent four years in a Spanish prison on charges of drug trafficking. According to ABC.es , citing EFE agency, Abdelbaki al-Sati was detained on January 1, 2010 in the autonomous city of Seuta with 136 kg of hashish. It was found that he was going to transport drugs to Alkheisiras (Autonomous Community of Andalusia).

According to the investigation, al -Sati is one of the two dead during the explosion on the night of August 16 to 17 in Alcanar, where terrorists produced homemade explosives. According to the police, Imam was engaged in the ideological processing of Moroccans. Moreover, the impact on the consciousness of extremists turned out to be so strong that they decided to make recent attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils even after the death of an ideologist and the loss of explosives.

Recall, on August 17, on Rambla Street in the center of Barcelona, ​​the driver of the van hit passers -by. The next morning, the Catalonia police liquidated five terrorists in Cambrilus in the south of autonomy, who tried to repeat the attack in Barcelona. 15 people became victims of terrorist attacks, more than 100 were injured.

On August 21, the Catalan police announced an operation in the city of Sibrats, during which a suspicious person was shot with a device that looked like a suicide borough. The authorities later confirmed that the executor of the attack in Barcelona was liquidated.

Suspects in involvement in terrorist attacks previously stated that the attack was developed by Abdelbaki al-Sati, who, according to them, wanted to sacrifice himself during attacks. Hawley Shemlyal said that the terrorists were going to arrange a larger terrorist attack using explosives, in particular in the temple of the Holy Family (Sagrada surname), but due to the incident in Alcanar, they were forced to adjust the plan.
