“This is unforgettable,” Kirill Serebrennikov commented sadly his first night in his life spent in the cell, in an interview with a member of the public observation commission Eve Merkacheva, published on the MK website. Serebrennikov said that 9 hours were taken in a car with stops at gas stations. Where he is being taken, they did not immediately explain and they did not give a lawyer to call. Deputy General Director of the Agency for Journalistic Investigations in St. Petersburg, former operative Evgeny Vyshenkov responded to the arrest of Kirill Serebrennikov with a column on the Fontanka.ru website under the heading of Serebrennikov, with things to exit. " In it, he, relying on the experience of working in law enforcement agencies, but without specific information, quite accurately described what happened to Serebrennikov. Zashenkov also analyzed how the security forces usually psychologically affect a person at the time of detention and immediately after him.
“To take with the dawn of the suspect, in this case, Serebrennikov is a strong Soviet-Russian tradition. This approach comes to the main thing-psychology. And the more intelligent person, the better it works,” Rushenkov wrote. He emphasizes that a formally legal procedure brings a suspect to a depressed psychological state that makes him cooperate with the investigation.

Evgeny Zashenkov about the arrest of Kirill Serebrennikov
-The Gogol-Center case lasts a long time, the clouds of Serebrennikov thickened, everyone knew about it. In your opinion, why did you need to detain it in St. Petersburg?
- There is a rational option. This is when a certain investigation procedure, some data, papers, examinations, indications come to a certain result that shows someone with a finger. In this case, to Serebrennikov. Then the decision is made: if so, then it must be detained and recognized as the suspect, and then the accused. Further the question: where is he now? He shoots a film in St. Petersburg. And when will he come to Moscow? Maybe tomorrow, or maybe after a month and a half. Maybe he wants, or maybe he doesn’t want to ... accordingly, there are two options from here. Option one - call Serebrennikov and say: "Urgently needs to interrogate you, be kind." Option two - come and pick up.
In the first option, Serebrennikov would hardly have sent opera somewhere, he would come. But not instantly, but, for example, two days later. With a lawyer. And already with a lawyer, in his office they would say: "You know, this interrogation is no longer as a witness, but as a suspect." And then - the procedure that we already see everything. But another decision was made. At the same time, the security forces are well aware that these arrivals instantly become news, there is a discussion, comments appear ... Anything, up to journalism. So it happened. They know this, and they go to it. Accordingly, such a decision is made not by the investigator and his immediate superior, but by the leadership. This is how the system thinks about some famous people.
The system does not understand that there is no need to follow the path "Let them hate, if only they would be afraid"
- You wrote your column when only the first data on Serebrennikov’s detention appeared. You mentioned the train, and, apparently, most often detainees are transferred precisely by rail. But Serebrennikov was taken in the car. Maybe it was needed for conversation?
- No, there is no need to look for a black cat. There are professional crime and similar things. When someone from the underground world (shooter or member of the gangster group) is revealed, then those who are looking for him, who are working on this matter, go behind him. They take it somewhere in the province, in Adler or in Magadan, and go back. If it is Tver or Novgorod, then by car. And in this case, of course, conversations are being conducted, this is a long way with long conversations.
The opera is not crazy to talk to him about something
Why? Because they took the prisoner, and he is clear to him, this is an opponent that he understands. And they behave differently, there are aggressive, there are mental ones. They are trying to agree. We need to agree in certain conditions, and then come to the investigator and say: "You know, comrade investigator, these are our testimonies." And the investigator, accordingly, is recorded, because he is actually a clerk. This is one story.
This has nothing to do with Serebrennikov. He is a public person, he has acquaintances, lawyers, folk and honored defenders ... The operas are not crazy to talk to him about something. So that later it would have appeared in Ksenia Sobchak on Twitter after 40 minutes? These could be completely formal employees. And no one authorized them and will not authorize them: you are already leading him there, you “warm him up ...” except to ask how to shoot “depicting the victim” - a good, by the way, a film. Why not?
Kirill Serebrennikov after a decision on placing him under house arrest
- Serebrennikov was brought to Moscow on Tuesday evening, they immediately gave the smell of the camera to sniff, as in due time to Navalny, who was already ready to go to the colony, and then he was replaced by a real term with a conditional in the Kirovles case. And it is quite obvious that Serebrennikov is now in a state of shock. Why, when determining the preventive measure of him, accused of economic crimes, was placed in jail? Is this a requirement of the law?
And then - house arrest, that is, freedom. Well, you see how "noble"
- When we are talking, we operate on some "right", absolutely sound meanings. But the system works a little differently. I suspect a person of such a crime, and I have the right to detain him for two days. I have the right? I have! And I hold it. At the same time, they say to me: why in camera?! I say: “Wait,“ camera ” - what kind of slang is this? I detained it and placed it in a temporary detention center, it is located there, there is a pillow and so on. What are you screaming? I didn’t do anything illegal.”
The system thinks such categories. But then there is an interpretation. Some say: listen, where is common sense? Why put him on the camera? Others speak differently. And from the point of view of the procedure, everything is in order! No one was noisy when he also acted with 10 thousand businessmen! There were 10 or 20 thousand, or 30 thousand. Well, yes, there were some news, but there was no indignation. And among them, I assure, the majority were not known as Serebrennikov. But they were absolutely normal people who, too, would not have run to the reeds, to the border, firing out of the canopy. We understand how this world works, and you cannot make complaints here.
I myself wore epaulet and this moral and psychological pressure exerted this
And then there is something that is behind the brackets. Of course, the law prescribes that the provision of moral, psychological, not to mention physical influence, is unacceptable and so on. Of course, all this is written because laws are arranged. But there is no that police system in the world, America is, Uganda or the Russian Federation, where this pressure is not. Otherwise, everything loses its meaning. Even, probably, chess players, when they play with each other (remember, Karpov-Kasparov), and then they have some moral and psychological pressure on each other with some things, whole articles came out about this. It’s easier for me to understand this, because I myself wore epaulet and this moral and psychological pressure myself.
For what? Well, in order to make the conversation easier. Because the investigation is initially an offensive story. If the court should be absolutely objective, and the judge looks at two sides, weighs the arguments of the parties on the scales, then the investigator initially steps on the fortress, he must break through these gates. For example, as soon as you get into the temporary detention center, you need to remove fingerprints, there is an ensign nearby, who says: "Be kind, roll up the sleeves." A certain paint is smeared, everything is cultural and polite, no one even painfully does, but these are psychologisms. And the more a person is distant from this world, the greater this impact. Formally, what claims? We have such a procedure in the state. And in any state, such a procedure is the removal of fingerprints. There is no problem.
And in the end, the person understands that the situation is serious, and he is already seriously talking with the investigator. They ask him: "How will we continue to live? What do we recognize? Let's recognize a couple of episodes, go ahead, and I won’t look at these two episodes. And it’s easier for me and it’s good for you. And if you persist, I will try to give you two plus two." And so on. These are all very long conversations, and they are normal, this is how the system works. Before the actor goes on stage, probably, the director and other members of the film crew work a lot with him, and then he leaves and reads Hamlet, and what was before, the viewer does not care.
So here - it is important that it is written in the interrogation protocol ... although they are unlikely to be said with Serebrennikov, because it is not known what comments will appear later. You are talking about common sense, and the law enforcement system, I do not mean only Bastrykin (Alexander Bastrykin, the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia.-RS) or someone else, she understands that there will be news, there will be statements, indignation, but she still makes a mistake. And not because it is stupid or smart, it is simply not from this world. She does not understand that it is not necessary to do this, that you don’t have to follow the path "let them hate, if only they would be afraid."
- In your column there is a phrase: "And he will sign the protocol." It sounds like the purpose of processing the detainee. What should be in this protocol? Guilty admission? But if so, Serebrennikov does not admit his guilt, and then it turns out that these efforts are in vain?
I know that when I have a business, and the defendants in this case begin to bicker among themselves and give testimonies to each other
- The system neatly presses on Serebrennikov, she understands who he is, and presses on him ceremoniously. But he did not admit guilt, and this did not work. But if it were not Serebrennikov, but simply a businessman, they would have tied more, there are still methods. I am not talking about the fact that he would be beaten, all the more we are talking about the "economic" article. They would have pushed, and maybe it would work. But the investigation practically said that he gave the initial testimony. Therefore, in reality, what was beneficial to the investigation happened. And as a person who put people in jail, I know that when I have a business, and the defendants in this case begin to bicker among themselves and give testimonies to each other ... "Separate and rule" - this was not invented. This situation is beneficial for the investigation. If there is no conflict, then there is no interest. Any director knows this. That's what is happening now. And then - house arrest, that is, "freedom". Well, you see how “noble,” says Evgeny Zashenkov.
By court decision, Kirill Serebrennikov is forbidden to leave his apartment, use the Internet, mobile connection and mail. The investigation insisted on the measure of suppression in the form of house arrest. Serebrennikov’s lawyer Dmitry Kharitonov asked him to let his client a bail, which is listed in the materials of the criminal case. The lawyer said that the court decision will be appealed.
