Emmanuel Macron's ratings have fallen by 24 percent in two months

The support rating of French President Emmanuel Macron, who won the elections in May, fell by 24 percentage points in two months. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the French Institute of Public Opinion (IFOP) for Le Journal du Dimanche.

In June, Macron's activities were approved by 64 percent of respondents, in July - 54 percent, in August - only 40 percent.

57 percent of those polled are disappointed with Macron's performance, of which 20 percent are very disappointed.

What exactly is the reason for the change in public opinion, the publication does not specify. After being elected president, Macron was criticized, in particular, for a conflict with the head of the General Staff, Pierre de Villiers (the general resigned), as well as the intention to give his wife the official status of first lady, allegedly involving the payment of a salary .

According to the publication, such a drop in ratings in the first months after the election is unprecedented for French presidents. In 1995, Jacques Chirac's rating fell by 20 percentage points by August.
