A detained opponent of tree cutting was fined for swearing and released from the police department

Activist Sergei Zavorotnykh, who was detained during an attempt to block the felling of trees, left the Sviblovo police station. He reported this to the OVD-Info hotline.

In the Zavorotny department, a fine of 500 rubles was issued for allegedly using foul language (Part 1, Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The activist also said that the police tried to check his phone for extremist materials, but he did not allow them to do so. Zavorotnykh suggests that in this way the police wanted to remove the video of his detention, which he managed to film.

Sergei Zavorotnykh was detained when he tried to prevent the felling of trees at 2, Lazorevy proezd, where they are going to lay a new heating main. According to him, a large number of police officers were deliberately on duty at this place in order to “protect workers from local residents” who were dissatisfied with what was happening. In a conversation with OVD-Info, Zavorotnykh also noted that cutting down trees is illegal: there is no logging ticket, and there is no signature on the copies of the documents provided, some of them are filled with violations.
