“Lightning struck Rocketbank twice”: what they say on social networks about the reorganization of Otkritie

The Central Bank announced on August 29 the beginning of the reorganization of the Otkritie banking group. The Central Bank immediately emphasized that the Otkritie banks would continue to work as usual, but not everyone on social networks believed him.

Otkritie owns the Rocketbank service, which used to be a partner of Interkommerts bank. In January 2016, the Central Bank introduced temporary administration at Interkommerts, and in February it revoked the license from the bank.

Some users considered that the problems of Intercommerce and Otkrytie are connected with Rocketbank and are now predicting them to the Central Bank.

Rocketbank itself, however, considers what happened to be a success: at least, when communicating with customers, the service calls (perhaps jokingly) the reorganization “nationalization” and says that Otkritie will “be honored” to become state-owned.
