The educational program of 2018 will begin on January 31 and will last until July - students will consider the theme of logistics in the era of global computerization, algorithmic management and the economy of digital platforms.
The “New Norm” connects theoretical and conceptual modules with workshop, where students get practical skills in working with machine learning algorithms, cross-platform tools for creating games and applications, supplemented and virtual reality technologies, installation and postproaches of a video, a sound design and visualization of data.
The 2018 program has three main accents: software, video and strategy. Such tools help to develop a projective type of thinking to create models of future projects. This year, students will present the final work in the format of a video version, demo versions and prototypes of digital platforms and web applications.
The program director and leading teacher of the New Norm is Benjamin Bratton, the sociologist and theorist of design and architecture, the head of the Center for Design of the California Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technology in San Diego, the author of books on design in the era of artificial intelligence and global computerization.
