More than 300 young Russian cultural figures signed an open letter in which they demanded to free the defendants in the case of the Seventh Studio.

According to Medusa , the directors of Dmitry Volkostrelov, Martha Gorvitz and Maxim Didenko, composer Ilya Demutsky, choreographer Ivan Estegneev, playwright Valery Pecheikin, theater critic Pavel Rudnev, artist and director Fedor Pavlov-Andreevich, among signing the letter.

The authors of the letter express out indignation at the criminal prosecution of the founder of the Seventh Studio, director Kirill Serebrennikov and its other former employees - general producer Alexei Malobrodsky, director of Yuri Itina, chief accountant Nina Maslyaeva and executive director Ekaterina Voronova.

“They make no sense to detain them: they are not dangerous for society and will not be hidden from the investigation,” the letter says.

Its authors believe that the “Case of the Seventh Studio” is conducted with gross violations, ”they call him politically motivated and note that the situation with this case, in particular, is the arrest of Kirill Serebrennikov ,“ has already seriously harmed our country's reputation in the international community. ” In their opinion, to correct the situation, in their opinion, could only close the case for lack of corpus delicti.
