The investigator promised to arrest the coordinator of Navalny’s Volgograd headquarters, Alexei Volkov, accused of rehabilitating Nazism due to the publication of the “Motherland” picture in brilliant green. The reason for the arrest was said to be a violation of the undertaking not to leave the place. Volkov himself told Mediazona about this.
The investigator called Volkov's lawyer and promised to detain the coordinator when he arrived at Volgograd airport that evening.
The headquarters coordinator said that on August 25 he met with the investigator, who notified him of the completion of the investigative actions. According to Volkov, he previously petitioned to be released to Moscow. During the meeting, the investigator gave him verbal consent to travel. The headquarters coordinator insists that the Criminal Procedure Code does not establish a written form of permission.
At the end of July, Volkov was accused of publicly desecrating a symbol of military glory. The case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code. According to investigators, the headquarters coordinator published a picture at the end of March that depicted the “Motherland” monument with a face stained with brilliant green.
