The Central District Court of Volgograd sent Alexei Volkov, the coordinator of the local headquarters Alexei Navalny, under house arrest. This was reported by Volkov himself. The activist will serve him at the place of registration in St. Petersburg.

Volkov is accused of publishing a picture of "doused green" sculpture "Mother Mother." The Investigator of the TFR asked to send the activist into custody for the violation of the wolves allegedly admitted to the wizard.

Volkov’s lawyers noted that in part 3 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code (public desecration of symbols of military glory, a fine of up to 300 thousand rubles, or 360 hours of compulsory work, or a year of correctional), the law does not provide for a preventive measure in the form of arrest. The prosecutor agreed with the defense and invited the court to put Volkov under house arrest.

“If they think that the headquarters will not work without a coordinator - this is not so,” the activist Anastasia Paradaya commented on the court’s decision.

According to the activist, the investigator himself orally allowed him to go to Moscow. However, on Thursday, Volkov was detained at arrival at the Volgograd airport and taken to court.

In May, the regional department of the Investigative Committee opened the case under part 3 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code (public desecration of symbols of military glory, a fine of up to 300 thousand rubles, or 360 hours of compulsory work, or a year of correctional).
