Suspects arrested in attack on traffic police post in Krasnodar

A court in Krasnodar arrested for two months three suspects in an attack on a traffic police post, Natalya Smyakaya, head of the press service of the regional department of the Investigative Committee, told Interfax.

According to her, Nikita Medvedev and Dmitry Karachkin were arrested on Thursday, Vladislav Gmyrya on Wednesday.

Depending on the role of each, they are charged with encroachment on the life of police officers, using violence against one of them and attempted murder, as well as car theft with violence.

On August 28, traffic police officers stopped a car containing the suspects. During the check, the driver hit the policeman in the face and began shooting with a traumatic pistol, wounding one of the officers in the head and neck. One passenger managed to escape, the second was detained on the spot, and the driver rammed several cars at a traffic light and, firing back, escaped from pursuit. On August 30, the escapees were detained.

The FSB said that the detainees were members of one of the right-wing radical groups. Gmyrya previously headed the Pit Bull group; in 2010, he was tried for creating an extremist community and causing grievous bodily harm.
